Kwam 1 settles NURTW bosses MC Oluomo, Sego’s long rift

Nigerian Fuji musician Kwam 1, also known as Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, has played a crucial role in reconciling two prominent National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) leaders, MC Oluomo and Mustapha Adekunle, also known as Tafa Sego, who had been embroiled in a long-standing feud. The peace deal was sealed at Ojusagbola in Ijebu, Ogun State, with several other NURTW chieftains in attendance.

The development was announced on Kwam 1's Instagram page, where photographs from the meeting were shared. According to the post, the two NURTW chieftains had finally put an end to their disagreements after years of animosity. Kwam 1, acting in his role as the Mayegun of Yorubaland, played a significant part in facilitating the reconciliation.

Both MC Oluomo and Tafa Sego expressed their delight over the new development. The rift between the two leaders had been fueled by their rivalry for leadership within the Lagos NURTW, with both men emerging as key figures in the transport organization. The dispute had previously led to public confrontations, including violence at an APC campaign rally in January 2019 and Sego being appointed to the union's caretaker committee despite being declared wanted by the police.

The latest reconciliation effort comes after a series of tensions surrounding the Lagos chapter of the union, including MC Oluomo's resignation as chairman in January 2024 amid a power struggle. The event also follows a public display of tension at Kwam 1's New Year All White Party in Lagos on January 2, 2026, where members associated with Sego's faction reacted after the musician recognized MC Oluomo as the head of the NURTW.
