I’ve Been Waiting for a Coffee Maker With No Plastic in the Brew Path. Caraway Just Delivered

For over a year, I have been gradually replacing plastic items in my kitchen to minimize microplastic exposure. My kitchen now consists of glass storage containers, bamboo utensils, a wooden cutting board, glass dishes, reusable stainless steel bottles and a coffee maker. However, I was aware that my coffee maker contained plastic, as boiling water passed through it into my morning coffee.

I was particularly concerned about potential microplastic leaching during this process. Unfortunately, every drip coffee maker I had used previously had plastic in either the coffee basket or the carafe lid, making it impossible to avoid plastic entirely. After two weeks of using it, my suspicions were confirmed. The sleek, aesthetically pleasing design and high-quality build were impressive, and I appreciated the thoughtfully designed removable cord. The stainless steel brew basket and reusable stainless steel coffee filter were dishwasher safe, and the glass carafe held up to 10 cups of coffee.

The coffee maker had a single knob for brewing, clean, and start/stop functions, maintaining its minimalist look. The carafe kept the coffee warm for up to an hour and a half, and it consistently produced excellent coffee, showing that the reusable coffee filter worked well. While this appliance lacked scheduling features, its chic design and the fact that it eliminates plastic from the coffee brewing process made it a worthy addition to my kitchen.
