It’s ‘business as usual’ for Negeri Sembilan’s 10 state executive councillors

Negeri Sembilan's 10 state executive councillors resumed their official duties on Tuesday, despite state ruler Tuanku Muhriz revoking their appointments with immediate effect on Sunday. The councillors, including Datuk Razali Abu Samah, chairman of the Sikamat assembly and Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee, reported to work as usual and continued with their official engagements, including attending a funeral.

Another councillor, Suhaimizan Bizar's aide, who chairs the Health, Unity, Information, National Integration and Non-Governmental Organisations Committee, also confirmed his continued duties. Tuanku Muhriz had revoked the appointments based on allegations that the councillors had breached their oaths, citing Article XXXVIII(5) of Negeri Sembilan's Laws of the Constitution.

However, the current Menteri Besar, Ismail, has rejected the need to submit a new list of Exco members, arguing that the existing members remain legally in office. The dispute stems from a recent proclamation seeking to remove Tuanku Muhriz as Yang di-Pertuan Besar, which the state government's Dewan Keadilan dan Undang has supported.
