Iran FM Araghchi denounces 'free hand' given to Israel ahead of United Nations General Assembly

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticized Israel for being granted unrestricted authority to act as he addressed reporters upon his arrival in New York City on Monday, in preparation for the United Nations General Assembly. Araghchi emphasized that Iran's principal objective during the UNGA is to safeguard the rights, interests, and legitimacy of the Iranian populace.

Furthermore, he condemned other nations for failing to condemn alleged atrocities committed within Iran. He highlighted that these countries did not issue a mere condemnation, even in light of the massacre of 168 innocent children in a single incident. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baghaei, stated that Araghchi would engage in discussions and consultations with officials and foreign ministers during his visit to New York.

Prior to his arrival in New York, Araghchi accused Israel of wielding influence over US policy in Iran. He referenced an article from Israel Hayom, known as Miriam Adelson's publication, which advocated for Israel to enhance its military, technological, intelligence, and economic integration with the US. This would enable any financial harm inflicted on Israel to be reciprocated onto Washington.

Araghchi urged Washington to break free from these constraints. Shortly after Araghchi's arrival, Baghaei compared the US's actions against Iran to the actions of Hitler during World War II in a post on X/Twitter. He argued that blaming Iran for the rise in fuel prices was akin to Hitler justifying his invasion of Poland as an act of defense.

Baghaei questioned whether this could be perceived as strategic brilliance or simply a manifestation of The March of Folly.
