I convinced Marvin Senaya to choose Ghana over Togo – Emmanuel Adebayor

Former Arsenal, Manchester City, and Real Madrid striker Emmanuel Adebayor revealed that he played a crucial role in persuading Marvin Senaya to represent Ghana rather than Togo at the international level. Senaya, who is eligible to play for both nations due to his Ghanaian and Togolese heritage, received call-ups from both national teams in March 2026 before ultimately choosing to join the Black Stars.

Adebayor explained to 3Sports that he firmly convinced Senaya to seize what he perceived as a unique opportunity, emphasizing that this World Cup could be his defining tournament. The former striker expressed his satisfaction with Senaya's performance during the tournament, noting that Ghanaians were proud of his contribution. Senaya, currently recovering from an injury sustained during Ghana's Round of 32 loss to Colombia at Kansas City Stadium on July 3, is actively rehabilitating and has already begun working on his right leg in the gym to hasten his return to action.

Ghana has commenced their preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, with the team already in Accra ahead of a packed international schedule. Their first fixture will be an away match against Côte d'Ivoire at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké on September 24, followed by a home game against The Gambia on September 27 and a final friendly against Morocco on October 4 at the Grand Stade de Tanger.
