Hyundai Rotem to adopt Hyundai Motor smart tech at aerospace plant

Korean defense and railway systems manufacturer Hyundai Rotem has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Hyundai Motor to integrate the automaker's smart factory technology into its aerospace production facility. The primary objective of this collaboration is to enhance workplace safety and elevate product quality.

This partnership will see both Hyundai Motor Group subsidiaries collaborate to integrate automated systems at Hyundai Rotem's aerospace plant. Hyundai Rotem has been engaged in the development of technology for ducted ramjet, hypersonic, and methane engines for reusable launch vehicles through projects with the Agency for Defense Development and Korea Research Institute for Defense Technology Planning and Advancement, which are Korea's state-run defense research entities.

The company intends to apply Hyundai Motor's AI-based smart factory technology to the high-risk stages of its aerospace manufacturing process. This strategic move aims to establish a safer working environment while simultaneously bolstering quality competitiveness.
