Googlebook: What to know about Google’s new $899 (Dh3,301) AI laptops

Google has introduced Googlebook, a new line of high-end laptops tailored for an AI-driven world, with starting prices as low as $899. These laptops are engineered to seamlessly integrate with Android phones, enabling users to access mobile apps, files, and notifications directly from the laptop's taskbar. Googlebook laptops also come equipped with artificial intelligence features such as Magic Pointer, which offers contextual on-screen actions and suggestions, and Rambler, a tool for cleaning up voice notes.

The devices are manufactured by leading hardware partners such as Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, and are built with premium materials like aluminium, magnesium, and carbon fibre. They boast an iconic notification and charging Glowbar, and are available in models with up to 2.8K OLED touchscreen displays and a battery life of up to 14 hours.

Starting at $899, the Googlebook price is lower than Apple's MacBook Air, but Googlebook is not intended to replace Chromebooks or cater to every buyer. Instead, it is positioned as a device that provides a smooth transition between an Android phone and a desktop computer, allowing users to continue their work on their phone and seamlessly switch to the laptop.

Googlebook is currently available for pre-order in the US, with retail availability beginning on October 4, 2026. The laptops will be available in select international markets, including the UK, Canada, and Australia, starting October 5. While Googlebook's UAE availability and pricing remain unconfirmed, the company has not made any official announcements regarding its availability in the region.
