Googlebook launched in US and other countries: Full specs, Gemini AI features, pricing

Google launched Googlebook, a new premium AI-focused laptop category, on September 21, 2023. The initial models are manufactured in collaboration with laptop brands such as Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. Powered by Intel and Qualcomm processors, Googlebooks offer up to 14 hours of battery life. Each purchase comes with a 12-month Google AI Pro subscription, providing 5TB of cloud storage, access to Gemini Advanced tools, 3 months of YouTube Premium, Adobe Photoshop, and more.

Googlebooks are set to hit stores in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, and Australia starting October 4 and 5. Preorders are available now. The company has not announced plans for India and other markets. Google is moving into the premium laptop market, competing with Apple's lower-priced MacBook Neo. Googlebooks extend the Chromebook formula with more powerful hardware, AI features, and tighter Android integration.

The laptops, built on the Android technology stack, feature Chrome, Google Play apps, and a modern AI-focused operating system designed for proactive assistance and seamless cross-device experiences. They come with premium materials, a 2.8K OLED touchscreen, haptic glass trackpads, backlit keyboards, and up to 45 TOPS dedicated NPUs for on-device performance.

A unique feature is the Glowbar, which illuminates during startup and indicates battery levels. Googlebook also includes Google Titan hardware root of trust, on-device malware detection, and a Level 5 security-certified pKVM hypervisor. With Googlebook, Google aims to address the needs of Android users, offering a laptop that feels great for phone users.
