Ghanaian interest comes first in 2027 Budget - Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson

Finance Minister Dr. Ato Forson has emphasized that the welfare of the Ghanaian people will continue to be the government's top priority in preparing the 2027 Budget. As budget consultations conclude with ministries, departments, and agencies this week, Dr. Forson affirmed that all spending decisions and policy choices will be guided by the needs and aspirations of Ghanaians.

"Throughout every hearing and every decision, one principle remains non-negotiable: the interest of the Ghanaian people comes first," he declared. The 2027 Budget is anticipated to serve as the cornerstone policy document outlining the government's US$10 billion New Economy programme. President John Dramani Mahama has hailed the programme as a "game changer" for Ghana, while Dr. Forson asserts that it will propel the nation beyond economic stabilization and generate jobs and prosperity.

The ongoing budget hearings assist the government in evaluating the priorities and spending plans of state institutions and aligning them with the New Economy programme.
