Ghanaian interest comes first in 2027 Budget – Ato Forson

Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has reaffirmed that the welfare of the Ghanaian people will be the government's primary focus while preparing the 2027 budget. As budget discussions with ministries, departments, and agencies conclude this week, Dr Forson emphasized that every spending decision and policy choice will be guided by the needs and aspirations of Ghanaians. "Through every hearing and every decision, one principle remains non-negotiable: the interest of the Ghanaian people comes first," he affirmed.

The 2027 budget is anticipated to serve as the cornerstone policy document outlining the government's $10 billion New Economy program. President John Dramani Mahama has hailed the program as a "game changer" for Ghana, and Dr Forson asserts that it will propel the nation beyond economic stabilization and generate jobs and prosperity.

The ongoing budget hearings are assisting the government in evaluating the priorities and spending plans of state institutions and aligning them with the New Economy program. The budget will outline the key sectors, investments, and policy interventions that will spur job creation, support businesses, expand infrastructure, and accelerate Ghana's economic transformation.
