Fazzrudin urges Sarawakians to help dispel misinformation, false perceptions about the state

KUCHING (Sept 22): Sarawak Premier Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman emphasized the importance of Sarawakians in combating misinformation and false perceptions about the state, especially those prevalent in Peninsular Malaysia. He highlighted that even today, people continue to view Sarawak as underdeveloped, a perception he finds surprising given its progress.

Fazzrudin, who has faced such remarks himself, acknowledged his role in educating others about the current state of Sarawak, including its achievements, culture, and way of life. He stressed that community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) would serve as the state's 'spokespersons' and 'ambassadors' by sharing this information with outsiders.

The programme, he explained, also aimed to provide KMKKs with insights into the Sarawak government's initiatives and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg's objectives. Fazzrudin affirmed that once KMKKs understood these aspects, they would support the government's efforts to achieve these goals. He assured that even if not every initiative directly impacts the public, its positive spillover effects would benefit all segments of society.

Village chief Aluyah Salleh, 66, from Kampung Masjid Kuching, appreciated the clarity and ease of understanding the information provided, which would aid in sharing this knowledge within her community. She requested the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) to share the slides from the briefing sessions. Present at the event were Ukas director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan and Sarawak State Library chief executive officer Japri Bujang Masli.
