Eugene Boakye Antwi Leads NPP Gen. Sec. Race – UG Research

A recent research conducted by the University of Ghana reveals that Eugene Boakye Antwi is expected to win the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) National General Secretary election scheduled for October 3, 2026. The study, led by Dr. Chris Atadika, surveyed 889 NPP stakeholders who were asked to predict the winner. An overwhelming 74.2% of respondents, or 657 participants, predicted Eugene Boakye Antwi to secure the position.

Incumbent General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua received 25.1% (223 votes) of the vote, while Sylvester Tetteh garnered a mere 0.7% (6 votes). The research found that Boakye Antwi leads in various other indicators as well. He was the most preferred candidate with 76.6% of the vote, compared to 23.1% for Justin Frimpong Kodua. Boakye Antwi was also the candidate most likely to help the party win the 2028 general election (60.1% to 39.2% for Kodua).

Additionally, 82.7% of respondents recognized Boakye Antwi when asked to name candidates for the position, while only 13% identified Justin Frimpong Kodua. The survey identified good communication skills and boldness as the top qualities needed for the General Secretary position, traits that many respondents associated with Eugene Boakye Antwi.
