Eagles Bring Back Super Bowl Hero After Dallas Goedert Injury

Jason Kelce, a long-standing member of the Philadelphia Eagles, is thrilled about the veteran tight end Zach Ertz's return to the organization. This comes after Dallas Goedert suffered a sprained MCL during Sunday's 24-20 Week 2 victory over the Tennessee Titans. Ertz, who spent time with Philadelphia from 2015 to 2021, will now serve as an experienced backup for the injured tight ends, Eli Stowers and Grant Calcaterra, who are currently on injured reserve.

The 35-year-old Ertz has contributed significantly to the Eagles' success, with 825 career receptions for 8,592 yards. During his first stint with the team, he caught 579 passes, falling 10 short of the franchise record held by Harold Carmichael. Ertz also earned three Pro Bowl selections during his time with Philadelphia.

Goedert's injury, which occurred while blocking in the second quarter, is expected to sideline him for several weeks. The Eagles currently have Johnny Mundt and EJ Jenkins as the healthy tight ends on their active roster. With Ertz in the fold, the Eagles could potentially elevate him for his first game back with the team in their upcoming Week 3 matchup against the Chicago Bears on September 28.
