Doosan Robotics' new CEO faces test of turning AI bet into profits

Kwon Young-min, the newly appointed CEO of Doosan Robotics, now faces the critical challenge of transforming the company's AI-focused robotics strategy into a successful and enduring growth force. The robotics division of the Doosan Group recently announced Kwon's appointment as its new chief executive, highlighting his extensive background in strategy and global operations.

Kwon began working with the group's strategy and planning department in 2000 and held key positions such as chief strategy officer at Doosan Bobcat from 2018 to 2020, and leader of Doosan Mottrol, a subsidiary of Doosan Bobcat, since 2021. His new role is set against the backdrop of Doosan Robotics striving to shift its focus from producing collaborative robots to offering advanced robot solutions that incorporate hardware, software, and AI.

The company has outlined a plan to incorporate AI into its robotic arms and software, enabling clients to automate tasks with minimal programming while optimizing work routes and sequences. Additionally, Doosan Robotics is developing AI-driven applications for the manufacturing and logistics sectors.
