Diamonds name Klau for Constellation Cup squad

Netball Australia has announced that Sarah Klau will represent Australia in the upcoming Constellation Cup. Klau, a goalkeeper for the Diamonds, has been selected for the 14-player squad despite facing a $5,000 fine and a two-match ban earlier this month. The Constellation Cup will be played next month in Auckland, New Zealand. Klau, the 31-year-old goalkeeper, will be one of the experienced players in the squad, having represented Australia 67 times since making her debut for the Diamonds in 2019.

The team's coach, Stacey Marinkovich, is expected to rely on the core members of her squad from the recent Commonwealth Games. The Games were held in Glasgow, Scotland, earlier this year, where Australia secured a bronze medal after a semifinal loss to Jamaica. Despite being ruled out of the remainder of the Super Netball season due to an ongoing leg injury, Klau had fronted Downing Centre Court earlier this month to face a common assault charge.

She was denied entry to a Sydney pub due to being intoxicated and allegedly kicked a security guard in the back. Klau had failed to disclose the matter to Netball Australia before the Commonwealth Games, leading to the sanctions.
