Delhi set to increase stipend for Anganwadi workers

The Delhi government plans to raise the stipend for Anganwadi workers, alongside providing them with essential kits, according to officials. The initiative is part of a month-long celebration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, which the government is organizing. Anganwadi workers are vital in delivering government services to children and women, and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the importance of honoring their contribution.

The stipend increase aims to acknowledge their roles and responsibilities. The essential kit includes a bag, uniform, insulated water bottle, cap, first-aid pouch, and umbrella. Around 25,000 invitations will be sent for special programs in all 70 Assembly constituencies starting September 23, with approximately 500 people expected to participate in each constituency, including MLAs, public representatives, beneficiaries, and Anganwadi workers and helpers.

The programs are aligned with the 9th National Nutrition Month 2026, observed by the Department of Women and Child Development from September 17 to October 17 under the Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan scheme, with the theme "Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Zimmedari." The government seeks to raise awareness about nutrition, boost community participation, and instill a sense of responsibility towards Anganwadi services.
