Malaysia's Penjara Malaysia insists it is always open to any information that could strengthen security and prison management systems. In response to allegations of misconduct in prison conditions and operations, the department stated that each instance of wrongdoing is handled in accordance with strict standard operating procedures (SOPs).

The agency consistently follows SOPs, including security control, inspections, monitoring, and action against any rule violations. Furthermore, intelligence gathering, monitoring, and tracking related to security aspects and rule adherence are carried out continuously to identify any risks, threats, or rule violations, enabling necessary preventive and corrective actions as needed.

Any confirmed incident will be managed according to the applicable rules and SOPs under the authority of the prison authority, according to a statement. Consequently, the Penjara Malaysia stresses that any information, complaints, or allegations of misconduct related to misconduct, legal violations, or prohibited items entering the prison institution must be reported to the police or relevant official channels to allow for investigation and appropriate action.

This statement followed media reports alleging the removal of a senior staff member to facilitate the smuggling of prohibited items into the prison. The Penjara Malaysia reiterated its openness to any information that could enhance the security and management systems of the prison. At the same time, any allegations must be channeled through the appropriate channels to be verified and addressed based on facts and evidence, it said.

The agency continually refines and improves SOPs, security control, inspection, and monitoring mechanisms as needed to ensure the prison institution remains safe and controlled.
