Criminals have no caste, says Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary

Bihar's Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has demanded that Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary resign following the Jamui incident where a minor girl and boy were harassed. Yadav criticized Choudhary, stating that he is unable to govern the state as law and order have collapsed. He accused Choudhary of only engaging in photo ops and lamp lighting while leaders in power make absurd statements about such incidents.

Yadav pointed out that Choudhary had vowed to resign if a similar incident involving women or girls occurred in Bihar. A viral old video of Choudhary as Deputy Chief Minister showed him saying he would resign if anyone was touched at midnight in a village. Choudhary has repeatedly claimed that villagers can travel safely at night if they have no personal enemies.

The Rashtriya Janata Dal's national working president also criticized two of Choudhary's party members, Umesh Singh Kushwaha and Shrawon Kumar, for calling the incident a sporadic event. Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh, whose remarks have sparked political debate, stated that moral policing can be done in a decent and elegant manner.

Congress Rajya Sabha member Pawan Khera slammed Shreyasi Singh's comments on X, questioning whether such behavior is acceptable if it is "decent and elegant." Yadav also criticized RJD leader Rajiv Ranjan, known as Lalan Singh, for attempting to justify the matter by citing the previous government. Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi indirectly criticized RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav by mentioning that the accused arrested in the case were from the Yadav community. Yadav dismissed Manjhi's indirect attack as meaningless.
