Couple accused of killing Delhi man targeted him as he was well-off, investigators suspect

Delhi-based Anya Vats and her partner Sanyam Sachdeva have been accused of killing 31-year-old Yuvraj Singh Manchanda, allegedly because they believed he was well-off, according to a police source. The investigation into Manchanda's death began when Punjab National Bank filed a complaint, leading to three cases being registered against Vats in Parliament Street police station, Greater Noida and Shahdara police stations.

Manchanda and Vats had both worked together in the same company until 2022, and Vats reportedly lost touch with Manchanda but started talking again in December last year after coming across one of his social media posts. On September 6, Vats allegedly called Manchanda, claiming she was trying to finalize a deal with a prospective client.

Manchanda met Vats and Sachdeva in Gurugram, where he was shot inside their car and his body was kept in the vehicle for two days before being dumped in a drain in Badshahpur. Police suspect Vats may have sent text messages to Manchanda's family and investigators, assuring them that he was fine and wanted to travel to Bengaluru.

After dumping Manchanda's body, Vats and Sachdeva traveled to Vrindavan and multiple locations before being arrested in Kainchi Dham, Uttarakhand, where they were staying in a paying guest accommodation. Police recovered a gun, Manchanda's car, and mobile phone from the accused.
