CDA Begins Issuing Allotment Letters to E-12 Affectees

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has commenced issuing allotment letters to individuals affected by Sector E-12, enabling the municipal body to claim ownership of the land and commence development activities. Established in 1989, the E-12 project has been ongoing for 37 years, with progress halted due to various factors. A significant obstacle has been the delay in compensating landowners whose properties were acquired by the CDA.

Recently, the civic agency distributed 15 allotment letters to affected parties, aiming to resolve outstanding compensation disputes and foster trust with local landowners. While development work has been completed in most regions of three sub-sectors, Sub-Sector 4 necessitates further attention. Prior to issuing these letters, the CDA had initiated a land acquisition operation, which initially faced resistance from local landowners who sought resolution of their compensation claims.

Many of the 146 allotment letters corresponding to built-up properties (BuP) are still pending. In response to consultations with the CDA chairman and Member Estate, plans have been made to expedite the processing of legitimate compensation cases. Abdul Rauf Khan, the Deputy Commissioner, alongside Chaudhry Kamran Bakhat, Director Enforcement, and Riaz Khan, Deputy Director, visited the site and presented the allotment letters to the affected individuals.

They assured them that additional letters would be issued shortly. Furthermore, a committee has been established within the land directorate to tackle pending land issues concerning local residents. The CDA is also grappling with pending compensation cases in several other sectors, including E-13, D-13, F-13, C-13, C-15, and C-16.

An official emphasized the importance of promptly compensating all legitimate landowners and allotting plots against both acquired land and built-up property without further delay.
