Boom Ball bringing its spin on the Savannah Bananas formula to Knoxville

Covenant Health Park in Knoxville will host Boom Ball, a unique and entertaining six-inning baseball spectacle, next spring. Originating from Savannah, Boom Ball attracts a diverse range of players, from American Ninja Warrior contestants to former minor league baseball stars. The special event is scheduled for May 1, 2027, with the game kicking off at 7 p.m. The park's executive vice president, Jeremy Boler, expressed enthusiasm for Boom Ball's dynamic approach to play, predicting it will delight fans of all ages.

Boom Ball differs from traditional baseball with its six innings, each featuring a distinct format. The first and fourth innings are Speedball, where a pitcher, running clock, and no balls or strikes create an exciting atmosphere. In the second and fifth innings, Fanball allows fans to join the action in foul territory. The third inning, Softball, sees softball pitchers stepping up to the mound. The final, sixth inning, Dueling Derby sees both teams taking simultaneous swings from the batter's box.

In addition to thrilling gameplay, Boom Ball offers trick plays, a light show, fireworks, and other memorable moments. The total game duration is approximately two hours from the first pitch to the final out. The multiuse Covenant Health Park, situated in Knoxville, has seen significant growth since opening in 2025. Apart from hosting the Savannah Bananas' record crowd in May, the venue has also been a host to various festivals and special events, including Nitro Circus 2.0.
