Beed: Shetkari Kamgar Party Takes Out Bullock-Cart Morcha At Kaij Tehsil Office

The Shetkari Kamgar Party (SKP) organized a bullock-cart march to the Kaij tehsil office in Beed on Monday, seeking urgent financial aid for farmers and solutions to the agricultural crisis stemming from limited rainfall this year. Bhai Mohan Gund, SKP's district unit general secretary, led the demonstrators, who demanded ₹50,000 per hectare in compensation for farmers who faced crop losses during the kharif season.

The protesters also called for the immediate opening of fodder camps, payment of outstanding crop insurance claims from previous years, and the withdrawal of the requirement to install smart electricity meters. The march concluded at the tehsil office around 1 pm, transforming into a public assembly where Gund highlighted the severe financial distress farmers were experiencing due to insufficient rainfall and significant crop damage.

He urged the government to declare the affected areas as drought-affected and provide immediate relief. The demonstrators also demanded the removal of electricity bills for agricultural pumps and domestic use, as well as at least eight hours of continuous daytime power supply for agricultural pumps. They sought the prompt release of pending crop insurance payments for the 2024 kharif and rabi seasons and the prompt payment of the second installment of sugarcane dues by sugar factories in the district.

After the meeting, a memorandum detailing their demands was presented to Naib Tehsildar Ashok Bhandare. Other participants in the march included social worker Hanumant Bhosale, principal Dr Hanumant Saudagar, Dhanraj Karpe, Rahul Khodse, Adv. Narayan Gole Patil, and several local farmers and residents.
