Bahrain arrests 19-year-old man accused of blackmailing 14-year-old online

Bahrain's Child Protection Unit in Cyberspace has apprehended a 19-year-old individual accused of luring and blackmailing a 14-year-old girl via a social media platform, according to the Interior Ministry. The Child Protection Unit, part of the General Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, identified and arrested the suspect following a thorough investigation. Legal proceedings have commenced to refer the case to the Public Prosecution.

The unit emphasized the significance of parental oversight and enhancing children's awareness of the dangers associated with engaging with unknown individuals online, especially those who employ deceptive or manipulative methods. Parents and guardians were advised to supervise children's social media activities and educate them about the risks involved in sharing personal photos or details with strangers.
