Pakistan's women cricket team secured a bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games by defeating Bangladesh by 31 runs in the third-place match. The game took place at Korogi Sports Park on Tuesday, marking the first time Pakistan avenged their loss in the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games bronze medal playoff. Captain Fatima Sana played a crucial role in the victory, scoring a brilliant 45 off 30 balls.
Her strong performance came after Bangladesh's middle overs saw their downfall, as they lost three wickets for just 20 runs in the first 4.1 overs. Pakistan posted a total of 145 runs for the loss of eight wickets, with off-spinner Umm-e-Hani contributing significantly with three wickets. Nahida Akter and Shorna Akter were the top wicket-takers for Bangladesh with two wickets each.
Despite a strong start from Gull Feroza and Shawaal Zulfiqar, Bangladesh struggled to maintain their momentum and fell short of the target. This win marks Pakistan's third women's cricket medal in Asian Games history, following gold medals won in 2010 and 2014.
