Army Daze cast members reunite at Sheikh Haikel's chicken rice shop

Singaporean rapper-businessman Sheikh Haikel posted an Instagram picture on September 20 of the cast of the 1996 film Army Daze reuniting at his chicken rice shop. In recent weeks, many Singaporean celebrities have visited Sheikh Haikel's chicken rice shop, Hai Ge Ji, to show support after he announced a stage 4 colon cancer diagnosis.

Sheikh Haikel recently added three more names to the list: fellow Army Daze cast members Edward Yong, Ahamed Azad, Adrian Lim, and Kevin Mark Verghese. The reunion featured the four men posing for a photo together, with Haikel captioning the moment, "Army Daze…forever and a day." Playwright Michael Chiang, who authored the original play and screenplay for Army Daze, expressed joy at the reunion and wished Sheikh Haikel strength during his battle with cancer.

Sheikh Haikel and his wife Anna Belle Francis confirmed that his colon is now clear of cancer, but he still undergoes treatment for cancer cells spread to his liver. Army Daze follows the story of five young men enlisting in Singapore's National Service and the antics that ensue. The comedy is known for its iconic moments and quotes that remain popular today. In 2017, the cast reunited to perform in a promotional video for the Netflix film War Machine.
