AJ Dybantsa hasn't played an NBA game yet. Life as a pro is already normal

Brockton native AJ Dybantsa has already adjusted to life as a professional basketball player despite not yet playing an NBA game. The 19-year-old was the top overall pick in the draft in June. His first NBA game is scheduled for next month, when the Washington Wizards will face his hometown Boston Celtics for the first time. Many of his new teammates are multi-time All-Stars, including Khris Middleton, Anthony Davis, and Trae Young.

Dybantsa described coming into this new phase of his life as "a dream come true." Training alongside pros was part of his journey to reaching the top pick status during his early teenage years. While he acknowledges the ups and downs of a rookie year, Dybantsa frames it as normal. When asked about meeting his new teammates, he said, "I'm definitely grateful because these vets are All-Stars, guys that have won championships."

The Wizards have a four-game home series against Dybantsa's hometown Celtics scheduled this season. The college freshman has already made an impression, averaging 25 points per game in the Summer League. Dybantsa recently visited the Brockton YMCA to donate school supplies, highlighting the support from his hometown. He will make his NBA debut on October 21 against the Milwaukee Bucks.
