Advisor to Prime Minister partakes in dialogue session at 2026 Concordia Summit in New York

New York: Dr. Majed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took part in a dialogue session entitled "Qatar's Strategic Role in a Changing Middle East" during the 2026 Concordia Annual Summit in New York. This event was held on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Dr. Al Ansari stressed that Qatar remains committed to diplomatic efforts, working with regional and international partners to find peaceful resolutions to regional crises. He emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy to promote regional security and stability.

He also highlighted the urgency of reaching a sustainable diplomatic solution to the conflict with the Islamic Republic of Iran and creating conditions for resuming negotiations to prevent escalation and conflict in the region. Qatar has consistently advocated for the freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz in line with international law, and has called for cooperation among Gulf Cooperation Council states to maintain regional security and stability.

The advisor affirmed the robust strategic partnership between Qatar and the United States of America, stressing the importance of ongoing defense and security cooperation between the two nations to bolster security and stability in the region.

In relation to the Gaza Strip, Dr. Al Ansari reiterated Qatar's ongoing efforts, alongside Egypt and the United States, to implement the ceasefire agreement. He stressed the necessity for all parties to adhere to their commitments to improve the humanitarian situation in the Strip. Additionally, he cautioned against Israeli measures aimed at altering the status quo in the West Bank, warning that such actions could impede peace and stability in the region.
