Accra Reset must move from ‘design to execution’ – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has cautioned against allowing the Accra Reset to remain a platform for declarations without delivering meaningful outcomes for Ghanaian citizens. He clarified that the initiative has progressed from theoretical deliberations to practical implementation, involving Ghana's government, global health organizations, development finance institutions, philanthropic entities, and private sector stakeholders.

"We are now shifting from design to execution," Mahama stated during the high-level Accra Reset event at the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

The subsequent phase of the Accra Reset will concentrate on establishing networks that connect research initiatives with regulatory oversight, local manufacturing, and efficient distribution systems. Potential collaborators include entities from Africa, Asia, India, Indonesia, and the Gulf region. Mahama emphasized that the Accra Reset does not advocate for isolationism but rather advocates for "pragmatic interdependence," where nations collaborate on equal terms while simultaneously enhancing their domestic healthcare capabilities.

During the event, Mahama officially unveiled the High-Level Panel's report, titled "A Sovereign Future for Health." The report outlines five strategic policy changes and ten recommendations aimed at reforming the global health governance framework.
