On September 14-16, 53 individuals were detained nationwide as part of Operation Pedo 3.0, led by the Directorate of Criminal Intelligence in Kuala Lumpur. Operation head M Kumar stated that the operation targeted 92 locations, resulting in 52 successful arrests and 40 unsuccessful searches. Of the 53 arrests, 52 were local residents, while one was a Bangladesh national, accompanied by 51 males and two females.

The detained individuals, all between 13 and 17 years old, were allegedly involved in producing and selling child sexual abuse material (CSAM) online. Some of the juveniles are believed to be creating animated sexual content for sale. The police also seized 540,127 instances of child sexual abuse material and 113,066 instances of adult pornography during the operation, with suspects allegedly accessing such content from open-source and dark web sources.

Two school staff, a teacher and a maintenance worker, were among the detained, but they were not linked to the eight minors. Out of the 92 targets, 23 were indicted by the end of September, while 29 are still under investigation.
