ABC's "World News Tonight With David Muir" has achieved a remarkable milestone, completing its 10th consecutive season as America's most-watched evening news broadcast. Moreover, the program secured the title of the most-watched show of the week for a remarkable 32 weeks across broadcast and cable television, outperforming all other programs.

Averaging 8.4 million viewers during the 2025-26 broadcast TV season, the newscast saw a 6% increase from the previous year, marking its largest audience in five years, according to Nielsen's Most Current Big Data + Panel measurement. Remarkably, "World News Tonight" claimed the top spot in total viewers for all 51 measured weeks.

During 32 of those weeks, it led across both broadcast and cable networks, surpassing any other program in weekly No. 1 finishes. This impressive feat stands out in a fragmented media landscape. ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic attributed the success to the deep bond David Muir has built with the audience, particularly through his travels and celebrations of small-town victories during the program.

The network's advantage over NBC's "Nightly News" and CBS's "Evening News" was substantial, with ABC leading by nearly 1.8 million viewers and a margin of over 4.3 million viewers, respectively. These gains, both in linear TV and digital platforms, underscore ABC's strong position in the news industry.
