Why Is Hyperliquid Up Today?

Hyperliquid (HYPE) experienced a significant price surge today, reaching an all-time high of $95.17 on September 21. The cryptocurrency experienced an 18.5% increase over the past week, outpacing other major cryptocurrencies such as Solana, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP. This surge is largely attributed to Kraken's parent company, Payward, planning to launch HYPE perpetual futures on CFTC-regulated Bitnomial, providing U.S. traders with regulated access.

The limited float of HYPE, with only 26% of the supply circulating, also played a role in the price increase, as small buying trends can lead to significant price jumps. Additionally, Hyperliquid added a new lending feature on September 18, allowing users to borrow stablecoins using HYPE or Bitcoin as collateral, which helped to reduce selling pressure.

Despite the promising outlook, the price is still subject to risks, such as the uncertainty surrounding the CFTC's approval of Payward's plan and the potential for downward pressure if more tokens are unlocked.
