Vancouver Mayor Sim urges no snap B.C. election during municipal campaign

Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim is urging the British Columbia government not to call an early election before municipal voting on October 17. Sim argues that time and attention should be devoted to municipal issues, aligning with the Union of B.C. Municipalities' position to protect the integrity of local elections. At a press conference, Sim unveiled his ABC Vancouver party’s platform, focusing on public safety, affordability, accountability, and job creation. Key commitments include a ban on open-air hard drug use in public spaces, a pledge to maintain property tax levels in 2027, and plans to rebuild the Vancouver Aquatic Centre and revitalize Granville Street.
