Upgrading of 17.1km Redline Pan Borneo Sarawak scheduled for completion by early 2028

KUCHING: The upgrade of the Redline sections of Sarawak's Pan Borneo Highway (Short Stretch), spanning 17.1 kilometers, is projected to be finished by early 2028. According to a statement from the Works Ministry, this project entails improving pavement structures at nine locations, such as Lachau, Selangau, Balingian, Kemena, Sebiew, and Tudan. The initiative aims to enhance existing routes that were omitted from the original Pan Borneo Highway implementation.

Prior to the commencement of the project, approximately 87 percent of the existing alignment comprised single-carriageway, two-lane roads. The procurement process has been finalized, with the ministry issuing a Letter of Acceptance to DAL-HCM Sdn Bhd on August 18, through the Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD).

The ministry expressed its expectations that the upgrade works would proceed without issues, adhere to the established schedule, and meet the required quality standards. It further stated that together with the Sarawak PWD, it will closely monitor the project to ensure the contractor adheres to safety standards and the predetermined timeline.
