Ukraine, Romania to strengthen cooperation to ensure reliable transit of Ukrainian goods

Ukraine's First Deputy Minister for Restoration, Infrastructure and Transport, Serhii Derkach, revealed on Facebook that the two nations plan to strengthen cooperation to ensure the reliable transit of Ukrainian goods. This memorandum focuses on an updated strategy for developing the countries' border infrastructure, covering 17 border crossing points, including ten new proposals.

Key areas of joint work include developing and modernizing border crossing points and access roads, enhancing rail connections, simplifying border procedures, and increasing capacity to transship Ukrainian cargo at Romanian ports.

Derkach emphasized that the Romanian route holds strategic importance for Ukrainian logistics, particularly due to ongoing Russian attacks on transport infrastructure. To address this, he stressed the importance of simultaneously developing infrastructure on both sides of the border and creating additional routes to the EU. Derkach's announcement comes in the wake of the Carpathian Economic Forum, where representatives from the C8 member countries presented a joint investment portfolio comprising 95 projects worth approximately EUR 40 billion.
