UAE evening traffic: Heavy congestion hits Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman

Typhoon Dujuan approached the eastern coast of Japan Monday, causing heavy rainfall that led to landslides in nearby prefectures, according to local authorities. In Chiba and Kanagawa, heavy rain triggered landslides, injuring one person and damaging eight houses in Chiba. Rescue operations were underway in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, to aid a resident trapped in a landslide.

The weather agency issued top-level landslide warnings for the northern Izu island chain and level 4 warnings for the rest of the chain, affecting areas in Tokyo, Chiba, Kanagawa, and Ibaraki. Typhoon Dujuan was projected to pass near the Boso Peninsula in Chiba late Monday night. Downpours were reported in Izu Oshima and other islands in the Izu chain, as well as the Kanto region and Shizuoka Prefecture.

A top-level landslide warning was issued for Izu Oshima. Roads in Chiba were flooded, and two cars were submerged but the drivers escaped safely. Bullet train services on the Tokaido Shinkansen Line were not affected. The typhoon, located 120 kilometers south of Chiba, was moving northeast at 30 kilometers per hour with maximum gusts of 198 kph.

Up to 250 millimeters of rain were forecast in the Tokai and Kanto regions, 150 mm in the Tohoku region, and heavy rainfall continued through Tuesday morning.
