Turbat rally demands end to trade curbs

On Sunday, All Parties Kech organized a protest in Turbat, condemning a series of issues including trade curbs, kidnappings, extortion, enforced disappearances, and the closure of border points with Iran. The demonstration, which drew a large turnout of political workers, traders, businessmen, laborers, students, and civil society activists, assembled outside the Turbat Press Club.

Fida Jan Buledi, Ghulam Yasin Baloch, Zarif Zedag, Younas Javed, Dr Ali Jan, Advocate Mashkoor Anwar, Mohammad Jan Dashti, and Maulana Javed Noumani spearheaded the rally, carrying banners and placards calling for the revival of cross-border trade, unrestricted access to border regions, removal of checkpoints between Nasirabad and Hoshab, removal of road blockades, and the removal of taxes on Iranian food items.

Speaking at the rally, Mr. Buledi expressed his discontent over the closure of the Iran border, emphasizing its historical significance as a vital source of livelihood for the local populace. During the event, various speakers raised concerns regarding the law and order situation in Kech, demanding its immediate restoration. They presented three primary demands: the reestablishment of law and order, the reopening of cross-border trade and all commercial and fuel crossings, and the elimination of closures affecting roads, markets, courts, and hospitals, all claimed in the name of security. The protesters also urged for more opportunities for peaceful political expression.
