Tropical Storm Polo forms off southwestern Mexico

Tropical Storm Polo emerged late Sunday off the southwestern coast of Mexico. Initially, it boasted maximum sustained winds of around 40 mph (65 kph). Experts from the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami predicted that the storm would intensify rapidly over the following days, potentially becoming a major hurricane within the next few days.

Currently, Polo is drifting towards the east-northeast at a pace of 5 mph (7 kph). Forecasters anticipate a turn to the east by Tuesday and a sharper shift to the north and northwest by Wednesday.
