The scales puzzle in Silent Hill: Townfall involves several steps. According to Polygon, players must first interpret a cryptic CRTV video, then open a pharmacy locker, and find Jess' house, which initially seems unreachable. Arranging items on the scales is also a challenge.
Silent Hill: Townfall is set in 1990s Scotland and features the first Black protagonist in the series, as reported by Mashable. The game's environment, St Amelia, is a Scottish island that evokes the atmosphere and time of a place, specifically 1996. PC Gamer notes that the game's attention to detail in its setting is noteworthy, with authentic depictions of small town life, including a video rental shop and a fish and chip shop.
The game is part of Konami's effort to turn Silent Hill into an anthology series, focused on the vibes of its predecessors rather than continuing to create stories set within the namesake town, Mashable reports. This approach was started with the release of The Short Message in 2024 and continued with Silent Hill f, set in 1960s rural Japan.
