Taxi boss Joe Sibanyoni expected to return to the Madlanga Inquiry

Joe "Ferrari" Sibanyoni, a prominent taxi industry figure, is set to return to the Madlanga Commission in Pretoria for cross-examination on Monday morning. This is the second time Sibanyoni has appeared before the Commission, following his initial appearance in August where he vehemently denied being part of a criminal organization dubbed the "Big Five".

In his final remarks, Sibanyoni maintained that most incidents of violence in the taxi industry are carried out with high-calibre firearms. He also reiterated that he had experienced two assassination attempts and previously reported criminal activity in the taxi industry to the police. The Commission's extended deadline was granted by President Cyril Ramaphosa, allowing it more time to complete its investigation. The final report is anticipated to be submitted to the President on January 25, 2027.
