Surfshark gives its iPhone VPN app a cleaner look, and the browser extension gets one too

Surfshark has introduced a redesigned user interface for its iPhone VPN app and browser extension. The update is focused on improving the design rather than adding new security features. When you open the Surfshark app on your iPhone now, you may notice a change in the locations tab layout. The provider aims to streamline server selection and reduce friction points in the user interface.

The redesign of the iOS app includes a split locations tab into two distinct views. The Recommended view displays your most popular country options, recently used servers, and dedicated IP if you have one configured. This view surfaces the servers you use most frequently, eliminating the need to search through a long list of countries every time you connect.

The Advanced view houses specialized options such as static IP servers and Multi Hop. Multi Hop routes your traffic through two separate VPN servers simultaneously, providing an additional layer of protection. Static IP servers assign the same address every time you connect, which is useful for services that become suspicious of frequent IP changes.

The browser extension's redesign is more substantial. The home view now reveals the number of ads and trackers blocked by Surfshark on the website you are visiting. All protection tools, including the ad blocker, cookie pop-up blocker, malicious site warnings, data leak alerts, and email scam checker, are consolidated into a single interface.

As Surfshark has incorporated more features over time, its interface grew cluttered. This update aims to eliminate some of the resulting clutter, creating a more effortless user experience. The redesign aligns with Surfshark's consistent and well-maintained approach across all platforms. To use the new layout on the app, open it and tap the Locations tab at the bottom, landing in Recommended by default, which shows your most-used servers.

If you need specialized options, tap Advanced at the top, and switch back to Recommended whenever desired.
