Starbucks to set up Global Capability Centre in Chennai, create 800 jobs

The Tamil Nadu government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Starbucks to establish a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Chennai, as reported on September 21, 2026. The GCC, which will be managed by Guidance, is expected to generate 800 high-value jobs in its initial phase. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, Industries Minister S. Keerthana, Industries Secretary S. Vijayakumar, and Guidance CEO and Managing Director Deepak Jacob were present during the signing ceremony.

Keerthana expressed delight at welcoming Starbucks to the state, highlighting the endorsement of Tamil Nadu's talent, capabilities, and business environment. The GCAs in Tamil Nadu handle various functions such as claims processing, AI-driven underwriting, fraud detection, and captive operations supporting investors' portfolio.
