Standout TSSAA football players up for Ponce Law Boys Athlete of Week

The TSSAA football season continues to deliver standout performances, and now it is time for fans to vote for the Ponce Law Boys Athlete of the Week. Voting closes on September 24 at noon. The Tennessean is committed to maintaining the integrity of the poll and will remove any nominees if evidence of vote tampering is found through bots or other means. Voters are encouraged to help preserve the election's authenticity by abstaining from any form of cheating.

Larry Sanders, a player from Brentwood Academy, led the charge with an impressive performance. He rushed for 104 yards on 14 carries and scored four touchdowns in a 43-7 victory over Christian Brothers. Riley Biddle from DCA played a crucial role in his team's 36-19 triumph against Franklin Christian. Biddle amassed 222 rushing yards and added two touchdowns.

In another noteworthy matchup, Issac Prince Jr. from East Robertson delivered a stellar performance against Kirkwood. Prince Jr. collected 26 carries for 183 yards and a touchdown, along with three catches for 33 yards and another touchdown in a 29-21 win. Devin Booker, representing Columbia, showcased his versatility by completing 10-of-15 passes for 172 yards and three touchdowns, while contributing 76 rushing yards and two touchdowns in a 45-7 win over Lawrence County.

Kristian Jones from Ezell-Harding had an all-around game against Jo Byrns, gaining 114 receiving yards on five catches, including a touchdown, rushing for 76 yards on two carries with a touchdown, and returning a 94-yard kickoff for a score. His total all-purpose yardage of 349 yards solidified his position as a standout player.

For the Hillsboro team, Kamonta Bassham contributed five tackles and one interception in their 41-7 win against Glencliff. Carsen Carter from Lincoln County led his team to a 42-21 victory over Summit, gaining 126 rushing yards and scoring three touchdowns. Myles Teague from Lipscomb Academy had a commanding game against Ensworth, throwing for 111 yards and three touchdowns in a 49-14 win.

Lastly, AJ Jackson from Smyrna was instrumental in his team's 27-21 win against Rockvale, connecting with receivers on 11-of-22 passes for 178 yards and two touchdowns, along with 12 carries for 69 yards and a touchdown. Tate Mathis from Nashville Christian shone brightly in his team's 48-0 win against Mt. Juliet Christian, completing 6-of-6 passes for 153 yards and five touchdowns.
