St Peter’s old boys kick off 70th anniversary journey with ‘Run to 70’

St Peter's Senior High School's 70th anniversary celebration kicked off on Saturday, September 19, with a "Run to 70 – Every Step Counts" event attended by members of the St Peter's Old Boys Association and other PERSCO community members at the University of Ghana. This opening activity was just the beginning of a series of programs designed to build excitement and momentum towards the school's 70th anniversary in 2027.

The event provided old students with an opportunity to reconnect and relive the camaraderie they shared during their time as students, as well as strengthen the bonds within the PERSCO community. David Adade Boafo, Global President of the St Peter's Old Boys Association, emphasized the importance of the event in driving momentum towards the anniversary and reigniting the sense of togetherness among old students.

The morning featured a variety of physical activities, including walking, jogging, and aerobics, allowing participants to stay active while bonding with their former schoolmates. Ing. Patrick Okoto, Chairman of the 70th Anniversary Planning Committee, described the event as the start of a year-long program leading up to the milestone.

The anniversary celebration will continue with an official launch in October, followed by a mega homecoming in December and Founders' Day activities in February 2027. The festivities will culminate in a week-long program in October 2027. The organizers also see the anniversary as an opportunity to leave a lasting legacy for the school, planning to expand the school's dining hall and modernize its kitchen and pantry as part of their major anniversary legacy project.
