Spain locks in World Cup-winning coach Luis de la Fuente with a deal through 2032

Spain's World Cup-winning coach Luis de la Fuente has signed a new contract, extending his tenure with the national team until 2032. The 65-year-old, who took charge in 2022, has led Spain to World Cup triumph, Euro 2024 victory and the 2023 UEFA Nations League championship. De la Fuente previously spent a decade working with Spain's youth teams before ascending to the senior role.

Rafael Louzan, chair of the Spanish FA's board of directors, praised the coach, calling him the most successful head coach in the team's history and expressing that a long-term future is what Luis de la Fuente deserves. Spain will face England on September 26, followed by a match against Croatia three days later, before hosting the Czech Republic on October 3. Their international window concludes with a trip to Croatia on October 5.
