Sooryavanshi is the future for India, will grab his chances: Jayasuriya

Former Sri Lanka captain Sanath Jayasuriya believes that 15-year-old Indian cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is the future of Indian cricket and will seize any opportunities that come his way. Sooryavanshi, who made his India debut as the youngest player in recent history, has been making waves with his big-hitting abilities despite his young age.

Jayasuriya, while speaking to PTI, stated that Sooryavanshi should be given a chance to prove himself and that the opportunities will come. The Sri Lankan legend emphasized that the young cricketer will have to wait for his opportunity, given Sanju Samson's established place in the team.

Despite this, Sooryavanshi has already shown flashes of brilliance, scoring 42 runs in three matches during India's tour of England and topping the run-scoring chart in the subsequent series against Zimbabwe with 151 runs at an impressive average of 50.33. Given his current form, it seems likely that Sooryavanshi will be given the opportunity to open the innings for India against Afghanistan in the near future. However, for now, the coach maintains that patience will be key if he wants to secure a regular spot in the team.
