Singer Ed Sheeran says Gaza situation ‘unjustifiable’ following controversy

Ed Sheeran expressed his strong disapproval of the situation in Gaza on Saturday, following criticism that he had not supported his opening act, rapper Macklemore, who was removed from the tour for making pro-Palestinian remarks. During his first performance since the controversy, Sheeran stated that "what is happening in Gaza is catastrophic and unjustifiable and disproportionate," mourning the loss of countless lives, particularly children, and denouncing the systemic injustice in the West Bank.

Macklemore had previously declared "Free Palestine" at a New Jersey concert, sparking backlash and leading several supporting acts to withdraw from the Loop Tour. Sheeran, who had previously remained politically neutral, apologized profusely for his decision, acknowledging the "hardest" week of his life and calling the show the "best night" of his career.
