Shura Council attends Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Executive Committee meeting

Cairo witnessed the participation of the Shura Council in the 43rd session of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union. Dr. Sultan bin Hassan Al Dhabit Al Dosari, a member of the Council and the Union's Executive Committee, represented the Shura Council during the session. His deputy, Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, also attended.

The committee deliberated on various agenda items, including reports from specialized committees and an overview of the Union's activities in the past period. They also examined a proposal to modify the voting procedure for emergency matters at General Assembly meetings, as well as a plan to strengthen parliamentary cooperation among the Councils of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Member States.

Furthermore, the Shura Council addressed a request from the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS Council) for observer status within the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union. They also debated the candidacy for the Union's presidency and the potential emergency proposal the Arab Parliamentary Group may submit to the 153rd General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, set to take place in Arusha, Tanzania, in October.
