The choice of venue was influenced by Panettiere's fondness for the ocean and marine life.

Regrettably, the 36-year-old actress was discovered unresponsive at an Airbnb residence in Greenville, South Carolina, on August 16. Despite efforts from emergency responders, she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. While an official cause of death awaits the results of toxicology tests, speculation from TMZ indicates that Panettiere may have succumbed to an oxycodone pill contaminated with fentanyl.

The investigation into her passing remains ongoing, drawing attention to her tumultuous history and personal relationships. In a statement following her demise, Panettiere's mother, Lesley Vogel, alluded to the role her former partner, Brian Hickerson, may have played in her death. Vogel expressed that though she and her daughter had been estranged, it was not a result of a lack of affection or care, but rather due to the influence of a detrimental individual who, she believes, contributed to her passing.

The lingering estrangement is anticipated to have an impact on the guest list for the memorial service.
