Schools closed in 2 districts as haze worsens in S’wak

Sarawak schools near districts with air quality readings above 200 have the option to temporarily close their doors, as reported by the education department. The decision came after the department observed unhealthy API readings of 212 and 207 in Kanowit and Lubok Antu districts, respectively, in the early hours of the day. Lessons were shifted online during the closure, as announced by the department.

The environment department's API portal revealed that 19 areas across Sarawak reported unhealthy air quality by noon, with Kapit leading the list at 170, followed by Serian at 167, Sibu and Sri Aman, both at 161, and Bintulu at 159. In the Klang Valley region, Cheras in Kuala Lumpur topped the list with a reading of 157, closely followed by Putrajaya, Johan Setia, and Shah Alam, with readings of 157, 153, and 137, respectively.
