Rawalpindi to Get First 100-Bed Cancer Treatment Tower

The Punjab government has approved plans to build the first 100-bed cancer treatment tower at Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi. This follows approval from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The relevant departments have begun preparing the necessary documentation for the project. The decision was discussed during a video conference meeting chaired by the Punjab Health Secretary. Attendees included representatives from various departments such as Health, Communication and Works, among others.

It has been announced that similar cancer treatment towers will be set up at government hospitals in Faisalabad, Sargodha, and Bahawalpur. The appointment of specialist doctors and additional staff will be made, and the required medical equipment procured before construction gets underway. Once completed, treatment services at the tower should commence promptly.

Currently, a cryoablation machine capable of treating breast, lung, liver, and kidney cancers is being installed at Holy Family Hospital. Following successful testing, the machine will undergo formal registration for patients requiring treatment for these specific types of cancer.
